    CMP is very likely to be affected by the lockouts announced by the Transport Workers’ Union today, since CMP in Malmö is one of the ports that has received strike alerts from the Dock Workers' Union. CMP plans to continue its operations to a large extent.

    Refuse-derived fuel boosts Malmö's container volumes

    Ships call at Malmö every week with containers of refuse-derived fuel, known as RDF. The containers are unloaded at CMP for onward transport to Sysav’s waste-to-energy plant, where the waste is converted into electricity and heat. The operation got underway earlier this year and is based on import of refuse-derived fuel from England.

    The cruise season concluded in Visby on 18 October. The ship Marco Polo put out from the new terminal at about 4.00 pm for its journey onward to Klaipeda in Lithuania. Visby has received 75 cruise arrivals and about 75,000 passengers during 2018, which is a substantial increase compared with last year.

    Last week, two large structural elements from one of the cranes at Amager Power Station was delivered to CMP in Copenhagen. Crane 10 at the Amager Power Station is to be dismantled and scrapped, a task undertaken by the CMP Logistics Department.

    Maiden Call Visby - Queen Elizabeth

    The cruise ship Queen Elizabeth arrived in Visby for the first time on June 14. Queen Elizabeth is 294 metres long, takes 2,092 passengers and belongs to the shipping company Cunard Line. During its time in Visby, Queen Elizabeth will be berthed at the V14 cruise ship quay.
