Floating crane comes to CMP

Last week, two large structural elements from one of the cranes at Amager Power Station was delivered to CMP in Copenhagen. Crane 10 at the Amager Power Station is to be dismantled and scrapped, a task undertaken by the CMP Logistics Department.

"This was an exciting assignment which we solved together with our partner, P. Olesen. Each part, weighing around 150 tons, was dismantled and removed with the help of a mobile floating crane from Holland called HEBO Lift 9," explains Birgitte Krabbe, Terminal Operations Manager at Copenhagen Malmö Port in Copenhagen.

The work took one day and was carried out by three people from CMP in total, together with staff from P.Olesen.

"It is the second time that the floating crane comes to CMP. In 2006, it was used in the dismantling of one of CMP’s Gantry cranes. Back then, the floating crane was called Samson but it is exactly the same crane, just with a new name" concludes Birgitte Krabbe.

The different crane elements will be further dismantled on land then picked up by a truck and destroyed.
