Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) enjoyed a strong year in 2018. Turnover increased by approx. eight percent from SEK 839 million to SEK 908 million. The cruise segment once again broke records and contributed strongly to the increased turnover, partly due to the newly opened cruise quay in Visby.
Increased volumes and new types of freight. This is the result thus far of CMP’s collaboration with SCA Logistics. Malmö is the hub for environmentally-friendly local shipping, which transports everything from paper products and new cars to large machinery and recycled fibre.
Christmas is bringing cruise passengers to Copenhagen. This year there will be more Christmas and New Year cruises than usual. This December CMP will be welcoming around 6,000 passengers, who will visit attractions including the classic Christmas market at Tivoli.
CMP’s focus on delivering logistical solutions to the construction industry is bearing fruit. There is a high level of interest in this new area, as not only are we able to offer large areas in central locations in Copenhagen, but we can also deliver solutions in the form of managing our customers’ logistics terminal so that they can concentrate on construction.
Visby's new cruise ship quay will soon be ready. Building work commenced in winter 2016 as part of a process that will reach its end in March 2018, when CMP takes over the facilities. The first cruise ship is scheduled to arrive at the new ultra-modern terminal just a few weeks later.
CMP is a hub for handling concrete panels and it is currently operating flat out. By mid-January 8,000 tonnes will have been unloaded in Malmö. The fact that CMP has become a hub is down to the port’s strategic location in an expansive region – but also to the top class service with minimal damage to goods.

The cruise season was a successful one for Copenhagen Malmö Port, CMP. Copenhagen welcomed 850,000 passengers, setting a new record. CMP is now investing in continued growth. A new terminal is being built in Copenhagen, and as from April 2018 Visby will form part of CMP’s cruise operations.
CMP's Norra Hamnen (North Harbour) has recently been crowned the winner of the 'Future Transport Award', receiving the accolade, according to the panel of judges statement of reasons, because CMP is "one of the best ambassadors for the intermodal concept in Sweden".
A new phase is now beginning within CMP’s assignment to handle and store the cable reels used in converting the Danish grid to underground cables.
CMP set a new record at the container terminal in Copenhagen in September. A total of 955 lifting operations took place on one vessel, corresponding to 1,601 TEUs.
The Board of Copenhagen Malmö Port, CMP, has given the go-ahead to build a new cruise terminal in Copenhagen. The terminal will be located beyond the current Oceankaj in Ydre Nordhavn and will be able to handle more than 5,000 passengers per call.
