COWI and Rambøll appointed as technical consultants for CMP’s development project in Ydre Nordhavn
COWI and Rambøll will become technical consultants for Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) in the upcoming development project in Ydre Nordhavn, Copenhagen. The task assigned to COWI and Rambøll includes providing technical advice for the establishment of a new container terminal, including construction and infrastructure, establishment of offices, and administrative facilities and space for relevant authorities, among other things.
In September 2020, CMP began the tendering process for technical consultancy for future development projects in Ydre Nordhavn, Copenhagen, where CMP plans to move the existing container terminal at Levantkaj within a few years.
“CMP is constantly evolving. One of our major projects right now is the development of a completely new area in Ydre Nordhavn, Copenhagen, including the construction of a new container terminal. The existing container terminal in Copenhagen already has a very high capacity, with its strategic location and associated infrastructure. This will be further strengthened by moving the terminal to Ydre Nordhavn, as new and efficient facilities will be established right next to modern infrastructure. Highly efficient and competent technical consultants with a lot of experience will be an important success factor in this work. We now have this in the form of COWI and Rambøll, and we are very much looking forward to our joint collaboration,” says Povl Dolleris Røjkjær Ungar, COO of Copenhagen Malmö Port.
Brian Foged, Vice President of COWI’s Marine and Foundation Engineering Department, is looking forward to an exciting partnership with Copenhagen Malmö Port and Rambøll:
“Establishing and future-proofing marine and coastal infrastructure is close to our port and coastal engineering team’s heart, and we are very much looking forward to getting started with the work. In order to ensure the best possible conditions for CMP and all users of the container terminal, we also have the opportunity to draw on the additional skills of our colleagues in the transport, energy and construction divisions, as well as from Arkitema. It is an honour to be part of the development of Ydre Nordhavn and the port environment in Øresund.”
Per Kristensen, chief project manager at Rambøll, also welcomes the collaboration:
“We are very pleased to be appointed as technical consultants to this project, and now look forward to developing, in close collaboration with CMP, the approximately 45-hectare area in Ydre Nordhavn to accommodate the world-class port facilities of the future, with a focus on innovative and sustainable solutions. We have successfully completed consultancy on cruise terminal 4 and the container terminal, and now look forward to continuing the good collaboration, where we can offer a wide range of multidisciplinary advisory skills within the port, construction and urban development fields, so that we can help CMP realise their vision of developing the port of the future and support their role as a growth catalyst of the Øresund region.”
The collaboration begins right from the start with COWI and Rambøll, and the agreement will last for a period of four years, with the possibility of extending for a further two years.
