Tomorrow, September 1, we are happy to welcome the cruise ship Europa 2, to the cruise terminal in Malmö. The corona pandemic has had a huge negative impact on the cruise season 2020 with almost 100 % cancellations. Some cruise lines are now offering smaller cruises with a limited number of passengers.
The first Ship to Ship (STS) bunkering of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) at our terminal in Malmö took place early Tuesday morning.
As a consequence of the corona crisis, several cruise lines have since long emptied their ships of cruise passengers. Most of these ships have a limited number of crew members on board, which is necessary to maintain the ships. There is therefore a great need for ships to be able to call at ports around the world for what we call “technical calls”.

The financial consequences due to the crisis with the coronavirus pandemic are of such a significant scope that Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) finds itself forced to give notice of termination to 55 employees in Copenhagen in order to secure the future functioning of CMP as a port operator and manager of critical infrastructure. The layoffs concern both dockworkers and office workers.
In connection with the verification of the functioning of the alarm sirens at Prøvestenen, a testing of the sirens needs to be conducted.
The test of the sirens will be conducted tomorrow (Wednesday 13 May) from 10:00 to 10:05 with an initial warning signal and a concluding signal.

The crisis as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic is having a severe negative impact on the port company Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP). Despite a series of measures taken to minimise the impact, such as savings packages and the use of the financial assistance package from the government, CMP is forced to give notice of redundancy. This impacts 40 employees in Malmö.
