Fine-tuning liquid bulk capacity

Now, liquid bulk handling capacity is being fine tuned. CMP is investing in yet another automatic loading arm at Prøvestenen. This will make loading more effective but also increase safety.

Automatic loading arms have many advantages. Actual handling becomes easier, but, above all, capacity increases when, for example, bunker oil is loaded onto a vessel.

– The throughput in a loading arm is greater than in the rubber tubes used previously. They provide time savings and mean that we can handle several vessels at the quays, Brian Kristensen of COO Liquid, Dry Bulk & Property tells us. In addition, handling safety increases.

The new arm will be in place by the end of the six-month period. This will thereby automate all liquid bulk handling in the quays concerned. There were 345 arrivals on the quay that is now getting a new loading arm. Here, it is loading that dominates, particular the loading of a product for which demand has been increasing for a long time.

– Bunker oil volumes have been constantly increasing, so much of the loading revolves around this product, says Brian Kristensen.
