2026 – CMP’s 25th anniversary

2026 marks CMP’s 25th anniversary. The year after the Oresund Bridge opened, Copenhagen Malmö Port was established – at that time the world’s only port company operating across national borders. One port. Two cities. Two countries. Since 2018, CMP has also grown to include a third city, with operations in Visby.

While many saw the Oresund Bridge as a catalyst for regional growth, it also raised questions within the maritime sector. Would a fixed link put the future of the ports at risk? Instead of competing, the City of Copenhagen and the City of Malmö chose a more forward-looking path: to face the future together. The result was CMP – an organisation that for 25 years has played a central role in the Oresund region, connecting sea and shore every day in ways that benefit both people and businesses.
