500,000 tonnes of CO₂ will be removed from the atmosphere annually, which will significantly contribute to Copenhagen’s goal of becoming the world’s first carbon neutral capital by 2025. These are the goals of a new CO₂ capture facility at Amager Bakke, where CMP is an integral part of the joint efforts with Amager Resource Centre (ARC).
The work to establish a shore power facility at the DFDS ferry terminal in Copenhagen is in full swing. The initiative is a joint collaboration between CMP and DFDS, with the Swedish company Actemium as contractor and COWI as technical advisor. The facility is expected to be operational in late summer 2021 and will makes it possible for DFDS’ ferries to significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
A facility for the capture of CO2 will reduce emissions from the ARC by 500,000 tonnes of CO2 annually and can thus significantly contribute to the City of Copenhagen’s goal of becoming the world’s first capital city in the world to become carbon-neutral. CMP will become a central party in distributing the captured CO2 to ships that sail the CO2 to storage in old oil fields in the North Sea.
